A BLOG IS BORN

You never know when inspiration will strike.

I certainly wasn’t looking for it at that moment.  But there it was.

Late one night during the 2020 quarantine, I’m flipping through the cable channels and came across A Star is Born, the new version with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

In this particular scene, Lady Gaga plays a talented, yet reluctant, singer-songwriter. Bradley Cooper’s character, Jackson Maine, offers this:

“Everyone in this bar is talented at one thing or another, but having something to say and a way to say it so people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag.  Unless you get out there and try to do it, you’ll never know.” He continues, “If there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here, it’s to say something so people want to hear it.”

– Jackson Maine (as played by Bradley Cooper, A Star is Born)

I’d been kicking around the idea of a blog and a podcast for a while, mostly centered around my work with the Chris Carrino Foundation for FSHD.  I want to get my message out and raise awareness for this disease I’m fighting.

I’m 50. I’m a sports broadcaster who’s been traveling the country (and sometimes beyond) for over two decades.  I do it while managing a life-altering muscle disease.  I experience the overwhelming kindness of friends and strangers. I’m a husband and a father.

I have something to say and a way to say it.  Someone might need to hear it.
So out of this period of self-isolation comes my Corona baby.

A Blog is Born.
